Space Tourism - The Lauched of Russia's Soyuz TMA-10

.

Soyuz TMA-10 is a current Soyuz mission, a human spaceflight mission transporting personnel to the International Space Station (ISS). Launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, atop a Soyuz FG carrier rocket, the mission began at 17:31:09 UTC on 7 April 2007. The spacecraft will remain at the space station as an escape craft, and is expected to return to Earth in October 2007, when it will be replaced by Soyuz TMA-11.

Soyuz TMA-10 transported two members of the ISS Expedition 15 crew to the space station, along with one spaceflight participant. It docked to the International Space Station on 9 April at 22:10 UTC, following two days of free flight. Its two Russian crew members will remain on the station until the Soyuz’s return to Earth in October 2007. Spaceflight participant Charles Simonyi (The creator of Microsoft Word) will return to Earth aboard Soyuz TMA-9, following eleven days of ISS handover operations.

Russian booster rocket Soyuz TMA-10 will take the new crew to the International Space Station.

Hubble Space Telescope in Action

The Hubbles Space Telescope is a telescope in orbit around the Earth, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Since its launched on April 24, 1990 from space shuttle Discovery, it has been responsible for many new observations and has helped astronomers achieve a better understanding of the universe. It has since become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy.

Here are some basic facts about The Hubble Space Telescope:

Mission Duration: Up to 20 years
Size: About the size of a large school bus
Cost at Launch: US$1.5 billion
Time to Complete One Orbit: 97 minutes
Speed: 17,500 mph (28,000 kph)
Energy source: the Sun
Mechanism: Two 25-foot solar panels
Power usage: 2,800 watts

So. how powerful exactly is the telescope? Well, let’s see the following:

Yoshida - Japanese biggest floating crane

Yoshida - Japanese biggest floating crane

.

I’m not sure if this is Japan’s largest floating crane or if it’s the biggest in the world, but either way, it’s huge!

iEarly in the morning it arrives at the city dock to begin the bridge construction for the man-made island in Kagoshima bay. Boom length: 132m. Lifting capacity: 3700 tons!
It’s “Yoshida” - Japanese biggest floating crane, built by Mitsubishi heavy Industries Division.

Each hook is 10 meters tall. The workers around it look as small as ants.
Some 800 steps lead to the tip of the boom, to the small cabin on the top.

Space Shuttle of USSR - Buran

The Russian Shuttle Buran (”Snowstorm” in Russian) was authorized in 1976 in response to the United States’ Space Shuttle program. Building of the shuttles began in 1980, with the first full-scale Aero-Buran rolling out in 1984.

Space Shuttle of USSR - Buran

The first suborbital test flight of a scale model of Buran took place in July 1983. There were five additional flights of the scale model in following years.

The first and only orbital launch of the shuttle Buran was at 3:00 GMT on November 15, 1988. The flight was unmanned, as the life support system had not been checked out and the CRT displays had no software installed

The vehicle was launched on the powerful Energiya booster into an 247 by 256 km orbit at 51.6 degrees inclination. The Buran orbited the Earth twice before firing its thrusters for reentry. The flight ended at 6:25 GMT when the vehicle touched down at Tyuratum. The Buran 1 mission was limited to 2 orbits due to computer memory limitations.
