IKEA KNT-Liner Mobile Showroom in Kobe Japan

IKEA KNT-Liner Mobile Showroom in Kobe Japan

The Kobe Portliner Monorail in Japan has been decked out in all things Ikea, creating a very Swedish, mobile showroom.

Ikea, known for its affordable, flat-pack furniture, is using the train as an advertising gimmic as the exposure it will get from traveling across Japan will be immense.

It looks very hip, with bold, vibrant colours, and crazy patterns adorning the upholstered seats and adding punch to curtains and towels. Even the outside has been painted in theme, featuring fun retro prints like flowers and hearts.

It was done as part of a promotion for the opening of a new showroom at Port Island later this month; the train will remain Ikea-ed until May 6.

Stunning Underwater Photography by Zena Holloway

Photographer Zena Holloway’s stunning underwater photography. I can’t say much about this except - wow!!

ZenaHolloway01

Zena Holloway, the underwater photographer, is an enthusiast. She enjoys being a photographer, but it is the underwater part which really gets her passions bubbling. To talk with her is like taking part in the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale; you feel that she is doing her best in a dry world but deep down she yearns to be back where a mermaid belongs - under the waves.

A freelance underwater photographer since 1994, Zena now has a very impressive list of clients and a collection of awards. The most recent was a merit in the 19th AOP Awards, but the Royal Photographic Society, The Portugal Film Festival and the Underwater Film Festival, France, have also added to her trophy collection.

Creative 3M Post-It Art

Still remember [The Usefulness of 3M Post-It Notes]? The Post-it Note, a small square with re-adhearable adhesive on the back, was one such answer. The three-inch bright yellow square was employed as a reminder, a note, or for organization… But some don’t see it as only a productivity tool… they see it as a medium for colorful art.

Even on 3M’s corporate site the Post-it Notes are sold with the slogan “So express yourself in color.” Some creative people took that idea to heart and below are several examples of how people have used the sticky notes to create works of art.

The Amazing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

The Amazing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

The auroras exist in the out most layer of the atmosphere. They are created by electrically charged particles that make the thin air shine, not unlike a fluorescent light. They can be seen in auroral belts that forms 20-25 degrees around the geomagnetic poles, both the north and the south.

The Northern Lights, also called Aurora Borealis (Southern lights or Aurora Australis in the southern hemisphere), are one of the most spectacular shows on this earth. Sometimes they cover almost all of the sky and seem to be dancing around with such grace and speed that one can only watch in awe.

They are difficult to photograph but Sigurdur H Stefnisson has mastered techniques not only to capture the Northern Lights but also some interesting foregrounds in his photographs. He exposes his shots to show us a tasteful blend of the northern lights and the world around him.
