If you are not quite cut out to be an [Cheerleaders for Beijing Olympics 2008] but still wanting to show off your national pride during the games? Well there is still another way, but you must be a tall, thin Chinese woman.

In preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing is seeking hundreds of young women presenters for medals ceremonies during the games, which open on August 8 2008 — but only those who are tall and thin need apply.

The applicants must be between 18 and 25 and university students, height between 1.68 and 1.78 meters, and of course not too ‘fat’

The Beijing Foreign Affairs School is offering a full program in medal presenting. You too can earn a degree in a field that will become completely obsolete on August 24, 2008!

Thirty-four girls are enrolled in the program, mostly between the ages of 16 and 18, hoping to be come part of a group of 380 women who will be chosen to present medals to the winners in Beijing. Those who are not chosen will presumably be forced to return to their sweatshops.

They are going through physical conditioning as well as professional training for dressing and etiquette in order to be stewards for the service industry. They stand for hours on end in high-heels, balancing books on their heads. If that wasn’t enough, they also learn English, undergo cultural training and look at pictures of past medal presenters and their uniforms. They will also going to practice elegance and grace through ballet training.
