Cheerleaders for Beijing Olympics 2008
During the Beijing 2008 Olympics, China has made it clear that 200 cheerleaders are needed to promote the spirit of the Olympic Games. In order to be a cheerleader during the games, one must go through a fierce competition to be one of the the chosen few.
Participants from elementary (primary) schools, high (secondary) schools, tertiary institutions, fitness clubs and community organizations across different cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shanxi, Liaoning, Henan, Xiamen, Sichuan, Hubei, Shandong and Heilongjiang are ready to slug it out for the top cheerleading honor.
The Beijing Olympics are expected to turn a profit of about 20 million U.S. dollars to 30 million dollars, according to a senior Games organizer.
Here’s a video from one of the team: Dan Tong Fitness Club (丹彤健身俱乐部) in Beijing.
