Tots Behind the Bars - Unidad 33 Prison

While there is prison cell which looks like a [5-Star Hotel], there are even more sad story behind the bars…

Carolina Camps, 34, is a freelance photographer based in Argentina who develops her own documentary projects, often focused on people at society’s margins. She has worked with Reuters and leading Argentine newspapers such as Clarin and La Nacion. In the following story she relates her experiences of getting close enough to women prisoners in La Plata, Argentina, to portray their lives through her images.

The Unidad (Unit) 33 prison in Los Hornos near La Plata, the capital of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. In this medium-security prison 273 female inmates, several of them pregnant, live with their 63 children who are allowed to remain with their mothers until they are four years old.

The children were born in prison and have never seen daylight outside the bars. They don’t know what an animal or a car is, or what exists outside this lockup. They are children that don’t smile.

Miss America 2008 - Kirsten Haglund from Michigan

Miss Michigan Kirsten Haglund, a 19-year-old aspiring Broadway star, was crowned Miss America 2008 on Saturday in a live show billed as the unveiling of the 87-year-old pageant’s new, hipper look.

Haglund, of Farmington Hills, Mich., sang “Over the Rainbow” to clinch the title. She beat Miss Indiana Nicole Elizabeth Rash, the first runner up, and Miss Washington Elyse Umemoto, the second runner up for the $50,000 scholarship and year of travel that comes with the crown.

Haglund, who studies music at the University of Cincinnati, grew up in a pageant family. Her mother is an active volunteer, and her grandmother Iora Hunt, competed for the crown as Miss Michigan 1944. Hunt was in the audience Saturday.

The crowning at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip was aired for the first time on TLC. It capped a four-week reality series, “Miss America: Reality Check,” which followed the contestants as they were pushed to shed the dated look of Miss Americas past and adopt a more updated style.

During the Beijing 2008 Olympics, China has made it clear that 200 cheerleaders are needed to promote the spirit of the Olympic Games. In order to be a cheerleader during the games, one must go through a fierce competition to be one of the the chosen few.

Participants from elementary (primary) schools, high (secondary) schools, tertiary institutions, fitness clubs and community organizations across different cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shanxi, Liaoning, Henan, Xiamen, Sichuan, Hubei, Shandong and Heilongjiang are ready to slug it out for the top cheerleading honor.

A boat lift, ship lift, or lift lock is a machine for transporting boats between water at two different elevations, and is an alternative to the canal lock and the canal inclined plane.

The 119 m Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric dam, located on the Yenisey river within 30 km upstream from Krasnoyarsk in Divnogorsk town, was finished in 1964 and supplies 6000 MW of power. As a result of the damming, the Krasnoyarskoye reservoir appeared. This reservoir, also known as Krasnoyarskoye More (Krasnoyarsk sea), has 2000 km² area, 73,3 km³ volume, 388 km length, 15 km width in the widest place, 36.6 m average depth and 105 m depth near the dam.

The dam is equipped with a ship lift to allow passage of ships. Held to be a landmark symbol of Krasnoyarsk.

Women - Work More, Cook Less


The latest advertisement ad campaign from Maggi, which was even short-listed for the Golden drums Awards, concluded recently. The campaign clearly indicating that what women could have become if they would have devoted less time on cooking.

The ad has been created for Nestle, Romania. If the ad is looked upon straightway, it is indeed successful to bring a little smile on the face.

No doubt, the treatment of the basic idea is nice but the concept seems to be outstretched a bit. Do you really think that spend some time in the kitchen will change their destiny? and this also shows men are not helping their wives in the house.
