Pet Fashion Week at New York

They wore feathers. They wore fancy hats. And of course, they wore fur.

But the models strutting down the runway were of the four-legged variety. The glamorous pooches were accompanied by human models — but the furry ones were getting all the attention.

It was The second annual Pet Fashion Week NY 07. Hosted by New York’s Metropolitan Pavilion, the fashion and lifestyle event brought out some extreme, some might say ‘cutting edge’ designs, in dog grooming and canine apparel. This is a fast growing sector of the pet industry and apparently, the newest craze within the fashion world.

The weekend combined cat-walk and dog walk runway shows with a 150+ exhibitor tradeshow and an innovative design awards event.

Over 2500 buyers where there to view not only pet apparel, but designer accessories such as pet carriers, collars and leads, grooming products, toys, and home decor items. All of which, say founders Mario DiFante and Alexa Cach, are making their mark in both the design and pet industries.
