Young Hollywood’s Top-Earning Stars is an exclusive list of the entertainment industry’s most sought-after talent under 21 years of age. While a few–most notably Lindsay Lohan–are well known, most of these names aren’t. Commit them to memory–these are mega-careers in the making.

To create this list, Forbes analyzed box office receipts, album sales, tour grosses, TV ratings and other metrics to hone the list; earnings figures are best estimates for the full year 2006, based on information from industry experts. These are conservative gross figures–no deductions for taxes or management fees have been taken. Only stars under 21 were considered. Discretion was taken, based on recommendations from industry experts, in determining which of these showbiz kids boast the strongest shot at long-term superstardom.

Former child stars turned reedy hipster twins earn the bulk of their income from their $1 billion (sales) retail empire, Dualstar, which pumps out tween-oriented merchandise. (Wal-Mart is a huge customer.) The twins displayed a decidedly sexier side last year when they appeared in print ads for designer Badgley Mischka–as sure a sign as any that their relevance to the tween market may be fading. It’s no wonder then that Dualstar is now marketing brands from other teen stars, like towheads Dylan and Cole Sprouse from Disney Channel’s The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

Daniel Radcliffe
Estimated earnings: $13 million
Age: 17
Profession: Actor

Wizardry and witchcraft have never been an especially lucrative field. Not so for this British teen. His salary for portraying Harry Potter in the film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s wildly successful novels has reportedly increased fiftyfold since The Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001. (He is rumored to get a slice of merchandising revenues off the next flick.) Radcliffe’s pared-down performance in the British stage revival of “Equus”–he appears nude at one point–is already cultivating him legions of, ahem, more-mature fans.

Lindsay Lohan

Profession: Actress

None of the three films Lohan co-starred in last year generated as much ink as her wild nights out on the club circuit. While filming Georgia Rule last summer, the actress was publicly chastised by the film’s studio chief James G. Robinson for her hard-partying ways. After the new year, Lohan entered rehab, forcing her to scale back her production schedule. She’s currently filming I Know Who Killed Me and starring in a Miu Miu ad campaign.

Profession: Actress

Born Hannah Dakota Fanning, Hollywood’s most sought-after kiddie actress landed her first real acting job as an accident victim on the popular television series ER. At 8 she was the youngest person ever to score a SAG Award, for I Am Sam. She has already performed in 18 films, including the 2005 Spielberg thriller, War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise. Her latest flick: Hounddog, which generated controversy for her sexually provocative role.

The one-time Nickelodeon regular wrapped up her WB television series What I Like About You last year. Bynes is now establishing her bona fides as a teeny-bopper film headliner. Last year she starred in She’s the Man, which grossed $34 million at domestic box offices. Her biggest role yet: Penny Pingleton in the upcoming film adaptation of Hairspray, starring John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer. She’s also slated to start filming Sydney White, an update on the Snow White fairy tale.

Panettiere starred in her first commercial at 8 weeks old before hitting the soap opera circuit as a child. She went on to appear in films alongside A-listers like Denzel Washington, Kate Hudson and Hilary Swank. Panettiere has become a fixture in the tabloids since hitting it big on NBC’s unexpected hit Heroes, where she plays cheerleader Claire Bennet, saver of the world. Up next: her debut album drops in May.

A Californian who made her acting debut in 2003 in the films Thirteen and Thunderbirds, Vanessa rocketed to stardom after her appearance in Disney’s blockbuster made for TV film High School Musical. She’s already filming the sequel, after settling a reported contract dispute that had her threatening to walk if she didn’t get a raise.

A native New Yorker, Breslin has been acting since the age of 5. In 2004 she co-starred with her brother Spencer in the Kate Hudson flick Raising Helen. She upstaged her castmates in last year’s Little Miss Sunshine with her climactic shimmy to Rick James’ “Superfreak”, and even nabbed an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress, crowning her the youngest nominee of the year. Next up: look for her in No Reservations, opposite Catherine Zeta Jones.

A regular on children’s programming like Sesame Street and Little Bill, Tyler is most recognizable for his current role as a young Chris Rock on the CW’s hit television series Everybody Hates Chris. He also starred in last year’s Warner Bros. Christmas kiddie flick Unaccompanied Minors.

Her hit single “Too Little Too Late” was a radio staple last year. JoJo, a pitchwoman for Ecko Red, also boasts a burgeoning film career. Last year she co-starred in Aquamarine and appeared opposite Robin Williams in RV.
