The Year of the Pig

The pig is one of 12 animals (or mythical animals in the case of the dragon) on the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, which follows the lunar calendar. The Z List (Tagged Post)

I’ve been tagged by TheSuzette! This Z list is supposed to help boost our incoming link counts, and eventually our blog’s ranking will be improved. So, if you need more traffic and wanna increase your page rank, try this out!

**Instructions**

The premise is simple: Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favourite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own z-list posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers - got to be good!

Key Points

1. Create a new post on your blog.
2. Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
3. Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (Optional)
4. Include the blog where you first got the list from (in your case case please include me; AhBoon - Funny and Weird), on the ‘original list’ in your post.
5. Do not include your own blog links on the list in your post.
6. Make sure that all links are copied intact.
7. Publish the Post.

Atomic Tourism - Titan missile museum

Atomic Tourism - Titan missile museum

You may have seen the devastating power of an atomic bomb on my Hiroshima post. Now you may visit one of the ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) silo in Titan Missile Museum in Sahuarita, Arizona, about 20 miles south of Tucson. You may have a chance to have a look at this monster which could have been launched in just 58 seconds, hurling a city-destroying nuclear warhead at the Soviet Union. Armageddon is not a pleasant prospect.

Atomic Tourism - Titan missile museumsDuring the heart of the cold war, from the 1960s to the mid-80s, the 54 Titan II underground complexes like this one — with its blast doors, firing console and spartan crew quarters, all preserved as the Titan Missile Museum and operated by the nonprofit Arizona Aerospace Foundation — were part of the American program of nuclear deterrence, on constant alert to keep aggressive impulses in the Soviet Union at bay.

Hiroshima, The Unseen Pictures

Hiroshima, The Unseen Pictures

The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed about 250.000 people and became the most dreadful slaughter of civilians in modern history. However, for many years there was a curious gap in the photographic records. Although the names of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were incised into our memories, there were few pictures to accompany them. Even today, the image in our minds is a mixture of devastated landscapes and shattered buildings. Shocking images of the ruins, but where were the victims?

Hiroshima, The Unseen PicturesThe American occupation forces imposed strict censorship on Japan, prohibiting anything “that might, directly or by inference, disturb public tranquility” and used it to prohibit all pictures of the bombed cities. The pictures remained classified ‘top secret’ for many years. Some of the images have been published later by different means, but it’s not usual to see them all together. This is the horror they didn’t want us to see, and that we must NEVER forget:
